Memories of Maine

This past summer vacation was jampacked with soccer practices, camp counseling, and studying. But, luckily, my dad and I were able to get away and break up the monotony for an adventurous trip to the relaxing state of Maine. Although our trip to the Vacationland was budgeted, we still had a wonderful time in numerous locations.

After a long car ride, we finally arrived at Acadia National Park. We were famished, so we purchased dinner and then ate it on the rocky beach on the coast of Mount Desert Island.
The next day, my dad and I set out to explore more of what Acadia National Park and the rest of Mount Desert Island had to offer. We started our tour of the island, hiking around Bass Harbor Light.
Next, we decided to explore the many mountains Acadia National Park preserves. We decided to attempt the Beehive trail, which ended up being a lot scarier and mentally challenging than I expected it to be. Despite the terrifying climb, the view was incredible at the top. My experience on the way up the mountain was unforgettable and a must-see and must-do when visiting.
A long day of hiking and exploring called for a nice relaxing dinner in downtown Bar Harbor. On the north side of the island, Bar Harbor is full of souvenir shops, seafood restaurants, and blueberry ice cream advertisements. While there, we ate a seafood dinner at Stewman’s and watched boats dock as the sun set.
Later in the week we stopped at a few other places in Maine, including Owls Head Light, Boothbay, and Portland. Although we didn’t stay long in any of the locations, I would’ve loved to explore more.
My trip to Maine may not have been your ideal vacation, but it was great to have a break in between my chaotic commitments. It was nice to spend time in nature with my dad and catch a glimpse of the many things Maine has to offer. I will definitely be back in the future for more adventures and memories.
